News Brief: Medicare to Cover Type 2 Program

By Miriam E. Tucker , , ,

Beginning April 1, Medicare will cover a program that may help prevent or delay type 2 diabetes. The Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program includes 16 group sessions over six months with a goal of helping people with prediabetes make long-term changes to their eating habits and physical activity. The program aims for weight loss of at least 5 percent, which has been shown to prevent or delay the development of type 2 diabetes in people at risk.
