Stressed Spouses Risk Weight Gain

You’ve probably heard that stress can lead to weight gain. It turns out that a stressed spouse can put weight on you, too. In a study, 1,098 married couples (both partners were age 50 or older) filled out surveys in 2006 and again in 2010. Greater stress reported by one member of the couple was more closely associated with weight gain in their partner than in themselves. The study didn’t address what to do to lessen stress, but other findings indicate that it’s important for couples to work together to cope with stress.
