Yoga May Improve Diabetes Control
Yoga is a popular practice these days, and it might just help adults with type 2 diabetes. Combined results from 12 randomized studies involving 864 adults with type 2 diabetes showed that those who practiced yoga for between two weeks and nine months had a lower average fasting blood glucose, post-meal blood glucose, and lower A1C (a measure of average glucose control over time). The yogis also had lower levels of total and LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and higher HDL (“good”) cholesterol. Yoga classes differ in style and intensity, so shop around for one that feels comfortable for you.
