Diabetes Stats:

Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1997. Oguss has used an insulin pump for about 15 years and just started using a CGM. For exercise, he jogs and spends time on the golf course once the long-awaited spring thaw hits Chicago.

Step Out Experience:

Oguss has participated in Step Out walks for the past few years with his wife, Valerie, and their 4-year-old son, Mitchell. I love seeing how Mitchell is starting to pick up on the importance of taking a positive approach to living with diabetes and giving back to the community.” Oguss co-organized, along with Michael Prapuolenis, chief human resources officer, the Sidley Austin LLP company team in 2014. “Sidley raised an incredible $75,000 collectively, and I couldn’t be more proud of the effort and team spirit demonstrated by our employees.”

Motivation:

“As a member of the local ADA Executive Committee that promotes Step Out in Chicago, it’s been very gratifying to help spread the word about an event that means so much to so many in our community.”
