Dads: Read Food Labels!

Dads, read up: A study has found that moms are more likely than dads to heed nutrition labels. In a nationwide poll of over 1,400 parents of children ages 17 and younger, 40 percent of mothers said they read food nutrition labels “very often” or “always,” compared with 35 percent of fathers. Fathers were more likely than mothers to say they “never” read nutrition labels. Nearly half of mothers versus just a third of the fathers said that nutrition label information influences their food-buying decisions. Although fathers may grocery shop less often than mothers, it is still important for them to make nutritious choices for their children’s health, researchers say.
