Walking outdoors with others may improve your mood and help you fight stress, a 13-week study found. Researchers gave questionnaires to 1,081 people who participated in Walking for Health, a British nature walking group founded by a physician. Compared with 435 people who didn’t walk with the group, Walking for Health participants had higher scores for positive mood and mental well-being and significantly lower scores for depression, stress, and bad moods. Here in the United States, you can join one of more than 300 walking groups that are part of the American Volkssport Association. Find out more at ava.org.
