Pros and Cons of Typical Diabetes Diet
People with diabetes eat better than others, right? Well, not in all ways. Researchers looked at national survey and examination data for 3,725 adults with diabetes or prediabetes, and found that both men and women with diagnosed diabetes ate less sugar, fewer total carbohydrate grams, and more protein than did those with undiagnosed diabetes. But they still didn’t eat enough fiber and tended to eat more saturated fat than recommended, possibly because they’re were paying more attention to controlling carbs. There were no differences between the undiagnosed and people with prediabetes.
