An Easy Ride to Giving

Vehicle donations support the American Diabetes Association

The American Diabetes Association’s car donation program is a hassle-free way to help people with diabetes while getting rid of an unwanted vehicle. Plus, you’ll be rewarded for your generosity.

The Association has received nearly $11 million over the past decade from donations of cars, trucks, boats, recreational vehicles, and even motorcycles. Visit diabetes.org/cars to sign up to donate a vehicle or boat. The ADA will provide free towing. The vehicle is sold at auction, with the net proceeds going to the ADA. You may deduct the vehicle’s value as a charitable donation on your income taxes.

Steve Moorhead of Sanford, Fla., donated his 2003 Toyota Tacoma pickup to the Association. It garnered $5,600 to stop diabetes—and in giving away his truck, Moorhead says he got a great feeling. “I’ve had some family members who’ve had diabetes,” he says. “I just felt like it was a good cause.”
