Exercise May Be the Best Medicine
Exercise worked as well as medication for the prevention and treatment of several diabetes-related conditions, a study found. Researchers analyzed data from 305 clinical studies comparing medications with exercise programs for rehabilitation after a stroke, prevention of heart disease, treatment of heart failure, or prevention of type 2 diabetes. Overall, the results showed that exercise worked at least as well as medication for all but heart failure, where diuretics were most effective. Check with your health care provider before making changes to your exercise or medication plan.
