Ingredients
2 | cups | frozen, no-sugar-added blueberries |
1/2 | cup | lower-sodium, lower-sugar ketchup (such as Walden Farms) |
1/2 | cup | balsamic vinegar |
1/2 | cup | water |
1/4 | cup | light-brown sugar or equivalent brown sugar substitute |
2 | tsp. | mild or hot chili powder |
1/2 | tsp. | ground cumin |
1/2 | tsp. | liquid smoke |
1/4 | tsp. | sea salt |
1/4 | tsp. | freshly ground black pepper |
Directions
Combine all of the ingredients in a medium saucepan. Bring to boiling over medium-high heat. Lower the heat and simmer for 30 minutes, until thickened. Serve as is or, for a less-chunky consistency, add the sauce to a food processor or blender and blend until smooth. This sauce is delicious on grilled, baked, or broiled chicken, pork loin, salmon, and shrimp.
