Ingredients

2 cups frozen, no-sugar-added blueberries
1/2 cup lower-sodium, lower-sugar ketchup (such as Walden Farms)
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup light-brown sugar or equivalent brown sugar substitute
2 tsp. mild or hot chili powder
1/2 tsp. ground cumin
1/2 tsp. liquid smoke
1/4 tsp. sea salt
1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper

Directions

Combine all of the ingredients in a medium saucepan. Bring to boiling over medium-high heat. Lower the heat and simmer for 30 minutes, until thickened. Serve as is or, for a less-chunky consistency, add the sauce to a food processor or blender and blend until smooth. This sauce is delicious on grilled, baked, or broiled chicken, pork loin, salmon, and shrimp.
