Action Alert Advocate: Charlene Williams

Charlene Williams

Charlene Williams

Age: 59

Location: Bronx, N.Y.

She regularly takes action online for the ADA, making sure her voice is heard on behalf of people affected by diabetes.

How she started: Williams attended American Diabetes Association Diabetes EXPO® to learn more about diabetes, because it affects her community. “In the Bronx, we have a high rate of diabetes,” she says. “It’s a subject I’m interested in because I see it every day.” Williams signed up to get the ADA’s advocacy action alerts, which make it easy for her to send e-mails about diabetes to legislators who can help design or support laws to make life better for people with diabetes.

Encouraging words: “One person can make a difference.”
