Weekend Splurge? Get Back on Track
Weekend splurges are not at all unusual, but your ability to lose or maintain weight depends on how quickly you get back to healthy eating and exercise. Researchers asked 80 adults to weigh themselves daily before breakfast and then followed participants’ weight fluctuations for between 15 days and almost a year. In general, people weighed more after the weekend. But those who lost weight over the course of the study were those who got back on track more quickly after weekend weight gain. If you want to lose or maintain weight, compensate for pounds gained on the weekend by eating less and being active starting first thing Monday morning.
