Under-the-Desk Pedaling Pays Off
Can’t find time to exercise? A simple solution: an under-the-desk elliptical machine, which is similar to a stationary foot bike. Researchers asked a group of inactive adults to use a compact elliptical while sitting in an office chair. The results were encouraging: If they used the elliptical for an hour daily, 86 percent of participants could burn enough calories to prevent weight gain. The majority of people reported being interested in using the machine (which generally sells for under $200) while working at a computer or watching TV.
