Music Can Ease the Sting of Injections

Take the sting out of insulin injections by playing music for your child. In a small study, children had an IV inserted with or without music playing in the background. In kids with any level of distress during the procedure, listening to music had a beneficial effect: The children were less distressed and reported less pain than those whose IV insertion wasn’t so melodious. Though the study wasn’t conducted in kids with diabetes, the tip may work for blood glucose tests and insulin injections, too.
