Frequent Glucose Checks Lower A1Cs
Checking blood glucose more frequently may lead to better control in type 1 diabetes. In a study of 20,555 people with type 1, those who reported testing their blood glucose more often had lower A1Cs. As people tested more frequently—anywhere from one or two up to 10 or more times a day—there were consistent improvements in their A1Cs. Researchers say this finding may prompt insurers to lift restrictions on the number of test strips covered per month.
