16 (7- or 10-inch) wood skewers
1/2 pint fresh large strawberries,
rinsed and cut in half
1/2 pint grape tomatoes
1 Tbsp. walnut oil
1 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar


  1. Soak the skewers in a pan of warm water for 1 hour at room temperature.
  2. Coat a grill rack from an outdoor gas grill with cooking spray and set it 6 inches from the heat source. Preheat the grill to medium.
  3. Using 2 wood skewers per kebab, thread the strawberry halves and grape tomatoes on the skewers, leaving about 1 inch of space on each end.
  4. Place the kebabs on a plate. Drizzle with the walnut oil.
  5. Add the kebabs to the grill. Grill for 2 to 3 minutes per side, until the strawberries and grape tomatoes are slightly charred. Be careful not to overcook. Drizzle with the balsamic vinegar, and grill for 1 minute more.
