My Health Advisor Is Revamped
The American Diabetes Association has relaunched My Health Advisor, a website designed to help visitors calculate their risk for type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke and, for those who have diabetes, their 10-year risk for diabetes complications. The newly revamped website offers interactive tools to help users reduce their risk and provides personalized action plans for making lifestyle changes.
"My favorite part of My Health Advisor is that it takes the abstract concept of risk and makes it very clear and practical," says Virginia Peragallo-Dittko, RN, BC-ADM, CDE, FAADE, a member of the ADA's Prevention Committee. "For example, when you use a copy of your recent blood work to enter your results, MHA gives you a picture of your current risk and a chance to use a crystal ball to see what happens if you change your blood test results. After that, you have the opportunity to develop your own action plan and really make a difference."
