Cutting Sugar Aids Weight Loss

Kick your sugar habit to lose weight. Researchers who analyzed 68 studies on “free sugars”—the stuff added by manufacturers, cooks, or consumers plus natural sugars from honey, syrup, and fruit juice—found that added sugar is linked to weight gain. People who cut back on sugar for between 10 weeks and eight months lost an average of 1.7 pounds. On the flip side, studies that tracked an increase in sugar consumption reported weight gain.
