Weight-Loss Benefits Last

About half the people enrolled in an intensive lifestyle program for type 2 diabetes maintained weight loss over four years, and even those who gained pounds back retained cardiovascular benefits from the initial weight loss. Those who stayed at the lower weight had better blood glucose levels than those whose weight yo-yoed, but blood pressure and LDL ("bad") cholesterol were similar between the weight maintainers and weight regainers.
