Diabetes and Depression Linked to Dementia
People with type 2 diabetes have a greater chance of developing dementia if they're depressed, says a study of over 19,000 people between the ages of 30 and 75. After three to five years, more than twice as many participants with both depression and diabetes had dementia compared with those with diabetes alone. Insulin use was associated with a lower risk of dementia in depressed people with diabetes.
