A New Look at Being a Diabetes Advocate

The American Diabetes Association has released a new brochure detailing its advocacy work in an effort to Stop Diabetes®.

“On the Front Lines, On Your Side” explains the benefits of diabetes advocacy at the local, state, and federal levels and encourages people to “become a voice for diabetes.”

The brochure includes a focus on the ADA’s efforts to end discrimination. A large and diverse group of ADA volunteers and staff members work tirelessly to help people treated unfairly because of diabetes, from children who need diabetes assistance in schools to employees who have faced workplace discrimination.

To learn more about the ADA’s advocacy efforts and to become a Diabetes Advocate, visit diabetes.org/takeaction. If you are facing discrimination or need help, call 1-800-DIABETES (1-800-342-2383) or visit diabetes.org/discrimination.
