Skipping Insulin Injections
Insulin can be a lifeline for people with diabetes, but more than half of insulin users report intentionally skipping shots now and then. In fact, 1 in 5 makes a habit of missing injections, according to a survey of 502 people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Those most prone to skipping a dose are people with type 2, unhealthy diets, or low incomes, as well as those for whom insulin injections cause embarrassment, inconvenience, or pain. Researchers say identifying barriers to proper self-care may help doctors and patients keep treatment on track.
