Possible Help for PCOS
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a common hormone disorder, is associated with obesity, type 2 diabetes, irregular menstruation, and elevated testosterone levels. In a study, women with PCOS who were instructed to exercise three times per week had less activity in the part of the nervous system that gets fired up by stress than a control group after four weeks. The researchers found that acupuncture helped, too. Previous research has shown that hyperactivity in that part of the nervous system is common among women with PCOS and may contribute to the disease’s negative outcomes.
