Warning on Stolen Levemir Insulin

By Erika Gebel, PhD ,

Stolen vials of Levemir insulin, a long-acting insulin made by Novo Nordisk, are being sold on the U.S. market and may be dangerous to use because of improper storage and handling, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

The FDA says Levemir insulin from vials with the lot numbers XZF0036, XZF0037, or XZF0038 should not be used. Always check your insulin before using; Levemir insulin is clear and colorless.

If you have insulin from an affected lot or any questions, you can contact Novo Nordisk at 1-800-727-6500.
