1/2 | cup | sesame seeds |
2 | Tbsp. | ground sumac |
2 | Tbsp. | ground dried thyme |
Yogurt | ||
2 | cups | nonfat Greek-style yogurt |

Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. To prepare the zahtar, toast the sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat until seeds are lightly brown. Add in the sumac and dried thyme. Set aside.
- For the dip, mix together yogurt and 1 tsp. of the olive oil. Add about 2 Tbsp. of the zahtar, fresh ground black pepper to taste, the minced garlic, and lemon zest.
- Brush the remaining olive oil over the pitas. Sprinkle with about 1 tsp. of zahtar per pita. Store the remaining zahtar in an airtight container. Cut the pitas into wedges, and place them on a baking sheet. Bake for about 12 to 15 minutes until crisp. Add a bowl of yogurt dip in the middle of a platter. Surround with the zahtar pita pieces.
