Asked and Answered
if you're living with diabetes, you've probably got a lot of questions. This is certainly true if you were recently diagnosed, but I find it's still the case years later. New situations arise, cutting-edge science is published, and there is always something more to learn.
One of the things I value most about Diabetes Forecast is how hard our writers and editors work to find the answers to those questions. Exhibit A, of course, is "Ask the Experts," our long-running monthly feature in which readers submit questions to be answered by health care professionals. But the answering of important questions is not limited to "Experts." This month, our columnists investigate the following: "Is it possible to prevent type 2 diabetes?", "Do I need to stretch before working out?", and "What's the deal with those omega-3s, anyway?". Personally, I'd been wondering whether flax seed was worth the bother, but having read Associate Editor Tracey Neithercott's omega-3s column, I'll be picking some up on my next run to the market.
The major studies of tight blood glucose control that came out last year raised plenty of questions, too. This month's "Early and Often" feature tackles many of them; researchers are still looking for the rest of the answers. We'll let you know when we hear more.
Finally, there are the answers we get from readers themselves—like the two suggestions we're publishing in this issue's Mail Call for the reader who wrote wistfully of missing "sweet tea" in a previous issue.
